Entrance archway at Old Town Tortilla Factory in Scottsdale, Arizona

Old Town Tortilla Factory Might Have the Best Patio in Scottsdale

We found Old Town Tortilla Factory completely by accident while in Scottsdale for golf and baseball, and somehow that made it even better. It sits just far enough off the main drag in Old Town that discovering it feels like you stumbled onto something locals would rather keep quiet.

Quick Takes

  • Atmosphere: 9.5/10
  • Margaritas: Legitimately excellent
  • Patio: One of the best in Scottsdale
  • Vibe: Relaxed Southwest courtyard
  • Good for: Date night, groups, out-of-town visitors
  • Parking: A little annoying but take a few laps and you’ll find something
  • Would I go back? Absolutely

Walking through the entrance feels like entering a hidden courtyard oasis in the middle of the desert. Huge trees, fireplaces, string lights, fountains, and one of the most relaxing patio setups we came across the entire trip. We happened to be there on one of those perfect Arizona evenings and got seated right next to the fountain, which immediately turned a random dinner stop into one of the highlights of the weekend.

Service was excellent from the start. Our waitress jokingly told us we “couldn’t order beers” because the margaritas were too good. She was kidding… but she also wasn’t wrong. The margaritas were outstanding and honestly one of the better ones I’ve had anywhere.

The complimentary house-made tortillas with flavored butter were a really unique touch and set the tone right away. The menu leans more Southwestern than traditional Mexican, which actually worked in its favor. Everything felt a little different from the standard Scottsdale tourist restaurant lineup.

The Sonoran Meatloaf was excellent, the chips and guacamole disappeared almost immediately, and the whole place somehow manages to feel both upscale and completely relaxed at the same time.

Part of the reason I wanted to write this review here is selfish: I genuinely wanted to remember this place for the next time I’m back in Scottsdale. That probably says more than any rating system could.

Some restaurants are technically good but forgettable. This place isn’t one of them. A month later, I still remember the patio, the fountain, the margaritas, and the overall vibe. That’s usually the sign you found somewhere worth returning to.
